FAQ

Windshield Tint
questions, answered

Is windshield tint legal in California?

Tinted film is only allowed on the top portion of the windshield, down to the AS-1 line (roughly the top four inches). Below that, the vehicle code permits a clear, colorless film that barely reduces visible light — that is what makes windshield heat rejection possible. We go over exactly what is legal for your vehicle before we start.

Does windshield film really reduce heat?

The windshield is the largest piece of glass on the car and the biggest source of cabin heat. A ceramic windshield film blocks most of the infrared energy coming through it, so the A/C cycles less and the cabin cools faster — the single most noticeable comfort upgrade in San Diego sun.

Will it affect visibility at night?

No. The film we use is optically clear with no distortion or haze, so night driving looks the same. What changes is the low-sun glare on morning and evening commutes.

How long does windshield tinting take?

About an hour. Windshields are the least forgiving glass on a car, so we take extra time on the edges and the curve to get a seamless, bubble-free finish.
